Honoring Everyday Heroes: Our First Responders
Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Summer 2015 edition of the RACOM Repeater. I hope your summer is going well! Thanks for taking time to read what’s going on in our portion of the LMR industry.
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a hundred times … first responders have tough and stressful jobs. Making quick, life-changing decisions under pressure is not something most of us have to do routinely in our daily lives. No matter the situation, these individuals must be strong, helpful, and caring. Whether they’re relaying information or responding to a call, these individuals are someone’s life link during an emergency and our public safety heroes!
It seems on almost a daily basis, I am reminded of how fragile life is and of the difficult situations faced by first responders. On June 12 here in Iowa there was a tragic shooting at the Coral Ridge Shopping Mall in Coralville. I am continually impressed by the composure and leadership shown by the law enforcement officers and the 911 dispatcher. The clear, concise communications and swift response and coordination of the officers allowed for the suspect to be captured within a short amount of time. While I don’t know all of the individuals involved in this incident, they certainly deserve our thanks and praise. It’s an honor to be a part of this community and to be served by these public safety professionals!
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victim as they mourn the loss of their loved one whose life ended too soon in the Coralville shooting.
With deepest gratitude and respect,
Mike Miller
